I’ve been an educator for most of my life. It all started in the pool when I was a teenager, teaching swimming lessons to kids, and I’ve never looked back.
I grew up in rural Ontario, Canada, surrounded by fields and farms. After completing my undergraduate degree, I lived and worked in many countries around the world including the UK, Japan, Colombia, Egypt, Brazil, and Belgium. I have been both a classroom educator and teacher-librarian. I am an active member in the world of school libraries and children’s literature, regularly participating in creative writing courses and workshops, volunteering as the editor-in-chief of The Teaching Librarian magazine, and as a member of various Canadian library and literary organizations.
After many years in Toronto, I recently moved to Ottawa with my husband and two daughters.
